Creating Fords Closures

The Fords capping press converts reel-fed foil into caps in our customer’s production plant. Caps are punched & formed within a tool unit and delivered as a single stream of caps for application onto containers immediately after filling. Caps are applied onto containers in continuous motion, which can be rotary within the filler or inline after filling.

Fords specify and build machines meeting individual customer requirements to ensure an optimum balance of price and performance. The Fords range of capping presses includes entry-level models configured for low to medium speed and sophisticated high speed models capable of continuous production at speeds up to 700 per minute.

Fords MD Capping Press

The MD press is a cost-effective capping press for applications up to 18,000 per hour. The press is a self-contained system with a small footprint and simple controls. The cap chute, which transports the foil cap from the tool unit to the cap-applier, is custom-designed for each application according to the speed requirements and space constraints in the production facility.

It is designed to be capable of speeds up to 150 caps per minute in single-tool format and 300 caps per minute in twin-tool format. The MD has a range of optional extras to enhance the specification, including logo embossing in the centre of the foil cap and UV cap disinfection for integration into a high hygiene filling system.
